Trail Reports

March 16 2013

Trails in the Fryeburg area are currently closed unless things really turn around. Even if we get a big spring storm we will not likely go out grooming. Some of our grooming equipment has been down all winter and the cost of repairs and diesel fuel has been tough on us and the trails. These late season storms were needed at the beginning of the season when the temperatures at night were below freezing and we could establish a good base. Hopefully next year will be better, and we will have more help in the Fall, snow storms at the beginning of the season, and cold nights. Some new equipment would be nice but it ain’t cheap. Spring cleanup is coming. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

March 1st 2013

We got snow! Wednesday brought about 10 inches of new wet snow. The trails in the East Fryeburg end of town have been groomed. We had a break down with the groomer in the village. It’s foggy and 28 in the north end this morning but if the temps drop tonight the groomers will be out. Enjoy the snow!

February 13, 2013

Mother Nature you are one fickle lady! I cannot believe the “blizzard”. It snowed Friday and all day Saturday. The wind was so fierce that we postponed our rally. There was no way to get the tent up. And on Saturday, everyone I know was cleaning up or plowing snow. It was hard to measure but, I think we got about 16 inches of new beautiful snow, only to see it blown away. I took my sled out on Sunday. It was a gorgeous day. I rode about 18 miles.

In every direction in the fields, you could see bare ground or huge drifts. By the end of the day Sunday the 10th, it was in the 60’s. What snow didn’t blow away Saturday – melted! We got about 5 more inches of wetter, heavier snow on Monday the 11th. But again, the temperatures reached above freezing; more melting going on.

I hear we may get snow on the 19th. Personally, I hope so. We need to get out and get some grooming done. We really need to be able to hold our rally. We’ll keep you posted. Until then, keep doing the snow dance.

January 23, 2013 – It’s cold out there! We haven’t had much more than a few inches of snow in quite some time. The trails are hard with a little snow. Maybe snow Friday the 25th – we’ll keep you posted!

January 17, 2013 That wasn’t much of a snowstorm for us – maybe 3 inches. There isn’t much snow out there, considering it was in the 50s last week. Be careful, these weird temps have raised the devil with ice. Three inches of snow just barely covers up those stumps and water holes. We’re still doing a snow dance here!

January 7, 2013 We have had only a dusting of snow since December; an inch here, a couple or three the next time. The wind blew something fierce last weekend. Most of the snow is packed but there are wet spots in the woods where there was little snow fall. This week’s prediction is for 40 degree weather! Stay tuned. There hasn’t been much to groom yet.

January 3, 2013 Wow! Happy New Year!

We have some snow – but still haven’t had much. Will try to get a detailed report on here soon.  Please stay off any bodies of water unless you are positive what the ice depth is.
